Unique drive concept.

The advanced engine technology in the Caravelle provides you with particularly low fuel consumption and maximum driving pleasure. In addition, innovations like 4MOTION all-wheel drive, dual clutch gearbox DSG, and Hill Start Assist ensure excellent traction, as well as optimal handling and steering response even in difficult driving conditions.

TDI engines

Every engine provides you with particularly low fuel consumption and maximum driving pleasure. There are four different engines:

2,0-l-TDI mit 62 kW¹
2,0-l-TDI mit 75 kW²
2,0-l-TDI mit 110 kW³
2,0-l-TDI mit 150 kW⁴

¹ Caravelle, 2.0 l TDI engine with 62 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 7.3 to 6.5, extra-urban from 5.4 to 5.0, combined from 6.1 to 5.5. CO₂ emission in g/km: combined from 159 to 145. Efficiency classes: B to A.
² Caravelle, 2.0 l TDI engine with 75 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 7.3 to 6.5, extra-urban from 5.4 to 5.0, combined from 6.1 to 5.5. CO₂ emission in g/km: combined from 159 to 145. Efficiency classes: B to A.
³  Caravelle, 2.0 l TDI engine with 110 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 7.8 to 6.3, extra-urban from 5.9 to 5.1, combined from 6.6 to 5.6. CO₂ emissions in g/km: combined from 171 to 147; efficiency class: B.
⁴ Caravelle, 2.0 l TDI engine with 150 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 7.8 to 6.8, extra-urban from 6.1 to 5.3, combined from 6.7 to 5.8. CO₂ emission in g/km: combined from 176 to 153. Efficiency class: B.

TSI petrol engines

If you prefer petrol engines, you have the choice between a 2.0 l TSI with 110 kW¹ and the 2.0 l TSI engine with 150 kW². Both engine options are equipped with a direct injection system and an exhaust turbocharger.

¹ Caravelle, 2.0 l TSI engine with 110 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 12.3 to 12.2, extra-urban from 7.5 to 7.4, combined from 9.2 to 9.1. CO₂ emissions in g/km: combined from 210 to 208. Efficiency class: E to D.
² Caravelle, 2.0 l TSI engine with 150 kW, fuel consumption in l/100 km: urban from 11.9 to 11.4, extra-urban from 7.7 to 7.4, combined from 9.2 to 8.9. CO₂ emissions in g/km: combined from 212 to 203. Efficiency class: D.

BlueMotion Technology Package

Volkswagen models with BlueMotion Technology are in line with the “Think Blue.” concept: That is why every single one of the modern Euro 6 engines is equipped with a start/stop system, regenerative braking, Hill Start Assist and roll resistance-optimised tyres.

Package contents

4MOTION all-wheel drive

The optionally available 4MOTION all-wheel drive is now fitted with the latest transmission generation all wheel traction. Advantages include reduced weight, and further enhancement of vehicle handling and dynamics.

4MOTION all-wheel drive with double clutch gearbox DSG¹
The Caravelle is the only vehicle in its class available with the optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive and optional 7-speed double clutch gearbox DSG.

Mechanical differential lock
The mechanical differential lock is available for the rear axle together with the optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive.

  • ¹ Not available for all engine options.

Dual clutch gearbox DSG

The optional 7-speed dual clutch gearbox DSG¹ permits fully automatic gear changing with no interruption in power flow, which results in significantly increased driving comfort. You can choose between normal and sport mode.

  • Not available for all engine options.

BlueMotion Technology efficiency package

Optionally, the CO₂ emission can be further reduced, in addition to the standard BlueMotion Technology measures, by lowering the suspension, among other measures.

  • Only in conjunction with short wheelbase, front wheel drive, along with 16-inch and 17-inch wheels.

DCC adaptive chassis control

The optional DCC adaptive chassis control improves vehicle handling and can be adjusted to your favourite setting at the touch of a button, simply choose from NORMAL, SPORT or COMFORT.

  • Only in conjunction with “Plus” multifunction display.
Regenerative braking

This recharges the vehicle battery during overrun and braking phases, thereby relieving strain on the engine, and reducing fuel consumption.

Start/stop system
Start/stop system

After shifting into neutral and releasing the clutch (only applies for manual transmission), the engine is switched off automatically, e. g. at red traffic lights. To start the engine again, it is enough to step on the clutch.

Roll resistance-optimised tyres

The Caravelle makes contact with the road via tyres with optimised rolling resistance. The low rolling resistance reduces fuel consumption, and with it, CO₂ emission.
