New benchmarks for fuel

The thriftiest in its class.

At Volkswagen, sustainability is more than a noble intention – it is a corporate target. This primarily means developing vehicles that are less of a burden on the environment without sacrificing comfort and suitability for everyday use. Vehicles like the Multivan BlueMotion: with an average fuel consumption of just 6.4 l/100 km and combined CO₂ emissions of 169 g/km, it sets the standard in its class. The Multivan BlueMotion is therefore not only the result of exceptional engineering; it is also our contribution to responsible and particularly sustainable mobility.

Equipment.

The Multivan BlueMotion is the thriftiest vehicle in its class – this has been achieved by a comprehensive package of innovative technologies. An efficient 2.0 l TDI engine with 84 kW and common rail technology is literally at the heart of this package. Many other components in the vehicle have been specially adapted too, however, such as the tyres and energy management. The fact that the progress in economy and ecology have not led to any compromises in terms of driving comfort and available space is just as significant. This is a truly special combination – and it is obvious just by looking at the Multivan BlueMotion: especially thanks to the "Glacier Blue Metallic" paint finish exclusively available for the Multivan BlueMotion (twelve paint finishes are available in total).

BlueMotion measures.

With an average fuel consumption of just 6.4 l/100 km, the Multivan BlueMotion is the most economical vehicle of its class. This is ensured by an efficient 2.0 l TDI engine with 84 kW combined with several fuel-saving BlueMotion measures such as the start/stop system.

The "Plus" multi-function display is included in delivery as standard so that you can keep an eye on the fuel consumption and other important data while you drive. Upon demand, the Multivan BlueMotion can also be equipped with chrome rings around the fog lights, which have an integrated cornering light. This provides better visibility for safe driving, even in adverse weather or inadequately lit road conditions such as intersections and road junctions. Cruise control helps to reduce fuel consumption by maintaining a steady speed while driving. The tyre monitoring display immediately reports the loss of air pressure in a tyre. By reacting quickly, an increase in fuel consumption can be avoided.

Regenerative braking.

Thanks to special energy management software, the voltage in the alternator is boosted when the vehicle is coasting or breaking. This ensures that the battery of the vehicle is recharged and relieves the strain on the engine, which leads to a reduction in fuel consumption. Furthermore, it enables the alternator's voltage to be reduced whilst driving.

Tyres with optimised rolling resistance.

The Multivan BlueMotion makes contact with the road via tyres with optimised rolling resistance. The lower rolling resistance of these tyres reduces fuel consumption and therefore CO₂ emissions as well.

Start/stop system.

After shifting into neutral and releasing the clutch, the engine is switched off automatically, for example at red traffic lights. To start the engine again, you just have to step on the clutch.

Fog lights.

The optionally available fog lights ensure ideal visibility in poor weather conditions and therefore top-level safety. In addition, a turning light is integrated in the fog light.

Passenger compartment.

The special BlueMotion design of the "Scout" upholstery together with high-quality carpeting in the passenger compartment and cab make the interior of the Multivan BlueMotion very inviting. A 3-seater bench seat secured on a 4-rail system provides a high level of comfort. Two comfortable single swivelling seats can be added as an option. These too can be fitted and moved on the rail system. A multifunction table² is fitted in the sliding door trim. When required, the table can be clipped onto the side rail and then put up.

Paint finishes and seat upholstery.

The Multivan BlueMotion can be ordered with an exclusive "Glacier Blue Metallic" paint finish, which shows at first glance that you are driving a very special Multivan. Depending on the seat upholstery selected, you have a choice of up to twelve different paint finishes.

³ The fuel consumption and emission figures have been determined in accordance with the measuring method stipulated (the version of EC Regulation 715/2007 which is currently valid).

Note in accordance with the version of Directive 1999/94/EC which is currently valid: the figures do not refer to a particular vehicle and do not constitute part of the offer but are purely for comparison purposes between the various types of vehicle. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car’s fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. CO₂ is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. A guide on fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions which contains data for all new passenger car models is available free of charge at every point of sale in the European Union and, for prospective buyers in Germany, at DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Strasse 1, 73760 Ostfildern. Energy efficiency categories evaluate vehicles based on CO₂ emissions while taking the unladen weight of the vehicle into consideration. Vehicles that comply with the average are classified as D. Vehicles that are above the current average are classified as A+, A, B or C. Vehicles that are below average are characterised as E, F or G.
